Key responsibilities will include:

• Setting the sales strategy plan to achieve year on year growth, developing a clear strategy on targeting new business across the country in their 3 market segments

• Responsible for leading, motivating, and inspiring the sales team to drive sales activity and achieve KPIs

• Develop commercial proposals for new and existing customer growth, whilst maintaining company financial goals

• Establish strong working relationships with national, regional, and major project customers and attend key strategic customer meetings

• Encourage factory visits with customers and the sales team to showcase the manufacturing operation, first class showroom, and investment in the contracts team

Strategy

Parkinson Lee Executive Search are delighted to be the retained partner to a significant power generation organisation in the appointment of a Head of Hydro Operations across their hydro power plants across the West Coast of Scotland – with Glasgow a central point.

This Head of Hydro Operations position is a key hire and will play a pivotal role in managing high performing teams whilst operating at a senior level and contributing to the senior leadership team.

Head of Operations – Duties & Responsibilities:

•Provide effective leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary team to deliver ‘best in class’ performance (Team of 50+ with 6-8 direct reports)

•Leading operation in terms of integrated engineering risk and governance framework consistent with safety, legal, statutory, environmental industry standards

•Overall accountability of all aspects of operation including maintenance, H&S, environment, customer, quality, time, and costing

•Drive and embed all change programmes developed and agreed

•Develop and implement a performance culture, ensuring that performance management processes are used effectively at all levels in the organisation.

•Lead improvement initiatives which increase the productivity of commercial processes, identify synergies that enhance value and deliver cost effective efficiencies

•Control capital and revenue budget requirements to ensure that profit targets are met at minimum cost whilst safeguarding and improving the availability and reliability of plant

•Target and deliver year on year plant and financial performance improvement to support delivery of overall business profits

•Oversee operations budgets, performance improvements and cost reduction targets and management of OPEX and CAPEX reviewing spend requirements on a continual basis

•Tight management control of large-scale maintenance and support contracts to deliver full value and maximise commercial position within contractual terms.

•Continuously monitor the performance of the plant and personnel and initiate changes to secure improvements.

•Champion Group H&S, Training & Competence standards

•Represent the Company with regulatory bodies, local authorities, outside agencies and the community to safeguard the stations’ and company’s interests.

•Organise and leads own department activity primarily over multi-year time horizons where necessary

•Works internally with geographically dispersed teams across the operation to deliver the company’s aims and objectives whilst sharing good practice with other business areas.

Candidate Profile:

•Experience within senior roles within large complex industrial environments, ideally with a range of plant type and/or technical roles

•Leadership across a wide range of functions including people management and transformation and change projects

•Strong commercial, contract management and negotiation/influencing skills

•Proven ability to form effective working relationships internally and externally with highly developed communication skills at all levels

•Experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team within an engineering or similar environment

•Mental resilience of a demanding workplace with the ability to deliver high level results within tight deadlines and prioritise key duties

•An awareness of current legislation within the industry and commercial understanding of the technical and legal content

•Degree level technical qualification or equivalent in an engineering related subject (essential) a member of a relevant professional body would be an advantage

•Ability to travel as and when required UK wide

This Head of Operations position is a key hire, which will play a pivotal role in managing high performing teams whilst operating at a senior level and contributing to the senior leadership team, with a clear focus on departmental development and that of its people.

Head of Operations – Duties & Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Plant Director and lead all site operations to deliver results in terms of safety, quality and delivery

• Overall responsibility for both day and shift operations teams

• Develop and encourage a culture of continuous improvement across the plant and its people, with clear objectives outlined and delivered

• Oversee operations budgets, performance improvements and cost reduction targets

• Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of core values to create a cohesive unit that is responsive to increasing demands

• Deliver succession plans to create high performing teams

• Collaborate and contribute to strategic objectives for the business

• Develop team structure and capability to deliver an operational organisation with cross functional skilling fit for the future

The successful Head of Operations will have the following skills & experience:

• Extensive operations management experience in power generation – essential

• An established, credible leader with demonstrable experience in change management and business transformation, in a highly regulated sector – highly desired

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative communication style

• Degree qualified or equivalent in an engineering related subject

• Experience deploying continuous improvement initiatives and use of lean tools as appropriate

• Demonstrable experience in development of operation teams in a high-volume business managing 100+ employees

• Ability to engage others and bring them on board with the wider business vision

• Experienced leader with the ability to forge strong relationships and support the Senior Leadership Team with an appreciation for HR and the benefits of strong internal relationships

• Self-starter in pursuing the objectives set for the operations team

Parkinson Lee Executive Search are delighted to be working on a retained basis with a global manufacturing and distribution organisation, based in Yorkshire, who are looking to appoint a COO into their global executive leadership team.

Working closely with the CEO, the primary responsibility of this position will be to lead and oversea the daily operations of the group functions in accordance with the strategic plan and operational and capital expenditure budgets.

Key responsibilities include:

• To assist the CEO and the CFO in developing and overseeing the long-term business strategies of the group and establishing the appropriate organizational structure

• Developing an annual operating plan that supports the group’s long-term strategy whilst keeping C-suite briefed on all operational and revenue performance, resolutions of issues and project development in advance of Board meetings

• Assisting the C-Suite in overseeing the group’s achievement and maintenance of a satisfactory competitive position within our industries

• Oversee all growth and change projects including a full review of the end to end supply chain across the group

• Embracing and driving a culture that promotes ethical practices, customer focus and service and encourages individual integrity

• Assess and manage the principal risks of the groups’ business within operations (proposals, projects and staffing).

• Conduct employee performance reviews and ensure that direct reports adhere to their respective job duties whilst continually ensuring that all internal procedures are updated and followed by all staff

• As part of the Group Leadership Team, attend all global leadership meetings and help plan and guide strategic global growth

Ultimately, this position will be charged to deliver key business and functional results whilst working towards and developing the core strategic direction of the outlined group business plan. The successful candidate will have a background in engineering and operations, and will have operated at board level within an international engineering/manufacturing group.
