Assignment Process

Our success is based on a straightforward and transparent approach at all stages of every search

Executive Search is a structured recruitment process involving the research, identification, approach and attraction of precisely identified individuals.

As a professional Partnership, big enough to deliver but small enough to care, Parkinson Lee is always flexible, fitting around you and your requirements (and not the other way around). At the same time, the process will normally include the following stages for our clients:

  • 1. Briefing & Specification of Requirements

We take the utmost care to understand your business, your role, and the kind of person most likely to succeed.

This is agreed with you in our Specification of Requirements - a highly professional marketing document and reference point for the whole exercise.

  • 2. Identification & Approach

With a solid structure and sequence, we will then agree with you the Search strategy - identifying the sectors, companies and individuals, refining the targets and taking your views into account.

Our Researchers are chosen according to the individual Assignment; they are also dedicated specialists and take great pride in the precision and presentation of the Target Lists.

But at Parkinson Lee, we believe the first contact with the candidate is crucial. And so - unusually - that first approach is typically made not by the Researcher, but your Partner (who is accountable directly for the formation of both the Long and Short List of candidates).

  • 3. Our Interviews

As seasoned Search specialists, we know that no candidate is the same and every interview is different; at the start, for example, we have to assess and respect the individual motivation of the individual candidate (who may well not be looking to move in the first instance). The best interviews are therefore epitomised by intelligence, insight and intuition and in our specialist areas, ours are second to none.

With our judgements, we are therefore confident about those candidates combining the correct capabilities and cultural fit. But we are not complacent. Which is why we also conduct competency-based interviews (the questions for which can, once again, be influenced by your priorities and views).

And finally, if you'd like to conduct psychometric and wider assessments, we also retain a penetrating Occupational Psychologist with a broad range of tools and proprietary techniques.

  • 4. Your Interviews
Each shortlisted candidate is profiled with a detailed CV and written assessment - including the highlighting of any notable points of interest - and then discussed with you, typically in a face-to-face meeting.

We will then agree and arrange the interviews on your behalf.

If you so wish, we will also attend them. This is a distinctive commitment that offers a variety of benefits - some obvious and some subtle - and we will be pleased to discuss these with you. (Of course, the bottom line is, we won't waste your valuable time - or indeed ours - by shortlisting "possible fits" or mediocre candidates; your interviews will be pleasing and productive).
  • 5. Offer Management

In our pivotal role between you and your candidates, we work really hard to ensure that all parties are well informed and perfectly-positioned to participate in a precise process.

Communication is key and so is our typical contribution to the remuneration discussions, managing expectations, minimising mismatches and ensuring a positive outcome at the negotiation stage.

  • 6. The Follow Up

If you so wish, we will be pleased to take out formal references on the successful candidate on your behalf. (And before this, we always take out informal references and soundings on the final shortlisted candidates for you to consider).

In due course, we arrange at least one structured Review meeting or call with each client and new employee individually, to probe and verify and ensure that it's all "plain sailing".

And you'll also have the chance to tell us what you think: our Client Service Reviews are a continuing process to evaluate our performance and to avoid complacency.

Location: South Yorkshire
Type: Permanent
Ref Number: ESLB-26834

Job Description

Parkinson Lee Executive Search, part of the Elevation Recruitment Group, are the retained partner to Facade and Glazing Solutions UK (FGS) in the appointment of a Managing Director.

Headquartered in Rotherham, FGS is part of the private investment group CoBe Capital.

CoBe Capital specialises in the acquisition and operation of corporate divestitures and, as a family office and unlike many Private Equity Firms, invests with the intent to grow these businesses for the long term.

With a turnover of circa £70 million, FGS is a leading provider of contracting, commercial glazing, and insurance services in the UK market. For more than 25 years, FGS has developed long-lasting, strategic relationships with some of the largest and most reputable companies in the country and partners with main contractors, leading insurers, facilities managers, and property owners to provide a complete ‘glazing’ building life cycle solution.

Following the recent acquisition by CoBe, the management team and CoBe capital have initiated an ambitious transformation to further build the market position and to enhance sustainable financial performance. FGS are now looking to appoint a Managing Director who will lead FGS in the long term, and who will shape and deliver the transformation with a true owners’ perspective.

Reporting to CoBe Capital, the Managing Director will be responsible for the overall success of the enterprise and will control and oversee all business operations, people, and ventures.

Key accountabilities will include:

• Working side-by-side with the owner-representatives and the management team to develop and execute the company’s short, medium, and long-term business strategies
• Maintaining the well-established status of the company whilst exploiting opportunities to improve and establish best operational practice; having previously been run as a non-core business unit, there is significant opportunity to make a real impact and step change in business performance
• Leading the analysis and strategic redesign of some business segments whilst delivering improvements in operations and business processes
• Ensuring the FGS businesses operate cohesively whilst at the same time understanding the diversities within the business both geographically and culturally
• Maintaining a stable cash position in the short term whilst accomplishing quantum-leap improvements to create a sustainable, profitable business
• Developing the senior leadership team and empowering members thereof to lead their own teams in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment. Leading change from a corporate cultural environment towards a dynamic, independent, medium-sized institution with the owner’s perspective as a key paradigm

The successful candidate will a proven Managing Director with demonstrable experience in delivering strong strategic business plans, preferably in turnaround situations.

In particular, we are looking to for an individual with:

• A proven track record of operating as Managing Director within a similar sized organisation. In particular, we are keen to speak to individuals with expertise in the development and delivery of business strategy and operational improvement
• Demonstrable achievements in the successful turnaround of underperforming businesses whilst developing and motivating a first-class leadership and operational teams
• Outstanding commercial acumen with a solid understanding of ground working operations
• A hands-on commitment to making and following through with significant, strategic decisions with resolve - but based on truly comprehending key business drivers and issues first
• Confident communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organisation, with the business owners, and business partners
• Intuitive understanding of operational and financial measures of performance, and a track record of delivering results
• Relevant experience in construction, construction materials, facilities management, large projects/contracts businesses or other relevant sectors (preferred although not essential; the calibre and track record of the individual is of higher importance)

The successful candidate will be a leader who will steer the company in the most profitable direction whilst also implementing its mission and long-term goals. A firm leader to the senior management team - who makes them true followers and attains top results without command and control.

To apply, or for a confidential discussion about the appointment, please contact Zoe Sullivan at Parkinson Lee on 01709 303330 or email

• Demonstrable achievements in the successful turnaround of underperforming businesses whilst developing and motivating a first-class leadership and operational teams
• Outstanding commercial acumen with a solid understanding of ground working operations

  • Tenet Group - Group Finance Director

"My experience of working with Lee has been extremely positive. Lee took the time to understand my career history and my personality and then applied this knowledge in matching me to a role, and more importantly to a culture and a CEO. That fit has been invaluable and I love my role.

Lee is a league ahead of others in the recruitment arena for this insight into what makes a good match between employee and candidate and minimises wasted time on both sides and increases the chances of success. I would highly recommend Lee and his team from both a candidate and a hiring employee perspective."

Keely Craig FCA - Group Finance Director

  • Jeld-Wen - Finance Director

"I relocated to Yorkshire a few years ago. I had no professional network in the area. Lee took the time to understand my background, skillset and expectations. He also recommended other useful contacts. Lee differentiates himself by being reliable. I define reliable as - picking the right roles for your skills and experience, giving honest feedback, calling you back when he saying he will and calls you to check on your progress.

He invests time in you as an individual. In my 16 years as an FD he is one of the best I have dealt with."

    Chris Martin - Finance Director

  • BeSavvi, part of Hitachi Capital Plc - Chief Executive / Head of Commercial

"I have worked with Lee over the past 12 - 18 months in order to recruit a couple of senior roles. Lee has a great approach to the process, meeting with me initially to get to know me, the business aspirations and also the ideal candidate fit.

Lee has a superb knowledge of the local market and has built up an extensive network. This has been invaluable when recruiting key roles.

Lee is down to earth and has worked with me rather than 'for' me. We have built up a good rapport over the past year and I would not hesitate to recommend Lee and his team."

Nick Gibbs - Chief Executive / Head of Commercial

  • Learn Direct - Managing Director

"I originally met Lee 12 months prior to asking him to help me with the recent CFO search.  We had stayed in contact and his relaxed style to recruitment made him the obvious choice when the time came.

Lee understood the role and person we needed perfectly and I was more than pleased with the ‘long-list’ prepared.  We had conversations along the way about people raising their heads who I probably knew from the sector, and also took some steer from me about people who were ‘wild cards’.  I have asked Lee to help me on a another role at the moment as you honestly do feel as though he is part of the team when he is working on an assignment.

Great communications, have upmost confidence of his credibility with candidates and a great sense of humour!  All three are rare from recruiters!"

    Jenny Parkes - Managing Director

  • TMD Friction Group - Finance Director

"I have dealt with Lee on a number of occasions, both as UK FD and Group CFO of TMD Friction Group.

Lee proved to be well connected and able to pass through numerous suitable candidates at short notice and well aware of the key requirements of a business operating under PE ownership. His connections in the north of England supported temporary roles both locally in West Yorkshire, but also for temporary support within the head office function in Leverkusen, Germany.

I have no hesitation in recommending Lee and look forward to working with him again in the future."

    Mal Hartland - Finance Director

  • Kingston Unity Friendly Society - Chairman

Our relatively small Financial Services organisation recently had the task of finding a new CEO to take over from the previous incumbent who was retiring. As a small mutual, we had specific requirements, requiring a CEO with broad experience, but primarily one that could drive a small but ambitious business forward, with the appropriate business & marketing acumen & expertise. Clearly finding the right person was vital for our business to succeed in the future.

We short-listed a number of recruitment agencies & formed a sub committee of 3 NED's who met with Lee after he had received our brief. He immediately demonstrated he had a good understanding of our business & business model, & that he fully grasped our requirements. In fact he helped us formulate the key attributes from the job spec we had provided. We were all impressed & unanimously decide to use Parkinson Lee.

Lee then outlined the likely timetable for short-listing candidates for first & second interviews, which I must admit I felt was slightly ambitious. However the timetable was virtually met, and more importantly, every candidate submitted (6 in all) had the capabilities to do a really good job as our CEO. We were impressed & delighted by the calibre of candidates submitted. We've completed our selection & we are awaiting our new CEO to complete his notice period before joining us in the new year. The whole process will have taken just 5 months, including a 3-month notice period. That's about as good as we had hoped for.

I personally worked closely with Lee, and found him always to be professional, readily available, responsive, & informative - all of his suggestions were well reasoned and adopted.

Therefore I have no hesitation in recommending Lee for any Executive search, including the "top job", as was the case with our recruitment.

Rob Edwards - Chairman of Kingston Unity

  • Nationwide Hygiene Group - Chief Executive Officer

We recently engaged Parkinson Lee to undertake an executive search and selection process to replace the role of Chief Executive Officer in our company. Their efficiency and professionalism in executing the task was first class. Lee Bhandal handled the search and managed to produce an excellent shortlist of candidates for interview from an initial applicant list of over 300 individuals and an offer has now been made and accepted for the role.

We were particularly impressed with the quality of the detailed job profile that was produced by Parkinson Lee which we believe attracted not only the large response received but also the high calibre of respondents for this important role.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Parkinson Lee to any prospective client.

    David Scholes

    Chief Executive Officer

  • Kingston Unity Friendly Society - Chief Executive Officer
  • CrystecPharma - Chief Executive Officer

CrystecPharma is a start-up company focused on enhancing the performance of pharmaceutical products. We have a strong management team, operating across the UK and China, individually with good business track records.

We therefore required a highly experienced and credible business mentor, who could work well with senior people, provide support, yet have the confidence and credentials to challenge where necessary. Phil has been an outstanding mentor over the past year. He has an engaging style, strong intellect, a breadth of experience across sectors, and he operates with a high degree of professional integrity.

He has helped us to hold our course and maintain focus in difficult trading conditions, whilst encouraging us to be open to new opportunities, individually and as a business. He has been an excellent source of new ideas and contacts for the company. Whilst we have much to do, I am sure that Crystec is on a more firm footing as a consequence of Phil’s support. He has been a genuine pleasure to work with, and I commend him to you without reservation.

    Paul Thorning - CEO

  • Berryman Glass Recycling - Chief Executive Officer

  • Hargreaves Industrial Services - Managing Director

We approached Parkinson Lee for the recruitment of a Finance Director on recommendation from a colleague. Lee Bhandal, Managing Partner, met with us personally to discuss our requirement. Lee was easy to deal with; approachable, efficient, reliable and knowledgeable, he listened and took on board our specific requirements. The CVs we were provided with matched our requirement in terms of experience and qualifications, having chosen 6 for interview, we were not disappointed to also find a match in personality requirements. Our successful candidate has now joined the business and settled in well. I would personally recommend Parkinson Lee for high level recruitment and look forward to working with Lee in the future.

    Julie Haynes - Managing Director

  • UK Coal Plc - Human Resources Director

Working as Human Resources Director for UK Coal Plc whilst the company was delivering a challenging financial turnaround, I struggled to attract candidates for key business critical roles. Lee Bhandal at Parkinson|Lee Executive Search was recommended to me by a member of the Board as a highly credible and well respected Executive Search Consultant, with the ability to understand the sector in which the organisation operated.

He quickly grasped the organisational strategy, performance goals (some linked to government), market factors and essentially how to translate it all into an attractive proposition for candidates.

Lee’s candidate search, analysis and assessments resulted in a shortlist of individuals with superb professional, technical and commercial capabilities, who were all fully briefed and engaged in the process.

Several executive appointments were made across the Group from Lee’s recommendations, greatly strengthening the function and the organization structure at this critical time.

I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Lee Bhandal at Parkinson|Lee to any organisation looking to strength there senior management team via a search specialist.

I have since started to work with Parkinson Lee as a client and found their service to be equally impressive.

I look forward to continuing to work with Parkinson Lee and would recommend their services without hesitation.

We awarded Parkinson Lee the mandate and I have to say we were delighted with both the process and the result.
Lee worked closely with us at the outset to define the role profile and then committed fully to the search, keeping us in the loop throughout the search.

We approached Lee Bhandal at Parkinson|Lee Executive Search on the back of a recommendation and we were thoroughly impressed with both Lee and Parkinson|Lee throughout the process.

We had an initial briefing meeting to scope out the position and Lee recommended an advertised search campaign.  At this stage we felt confident in both Lee’s market knowledge, which is exceptional and also his ability to fully understand our business, what we needed and the right solution at a cost effective price. The recruitment piece was relatively complex as it required interaction not only with UK representatives of Powell but also colleagues in Houston, Texas.

  • 29/09/2017 Acquisitions: targeting the goal

    alt

    Acquisitions – targeting the goal

    By Roger Esler

Owner and Director at Dow Schofield Watts

There are broadly three types of acquisition strategy: opportunistic, expansionist and shareholder value enhancing.

These categories are not mutually exclusive and I won’t dwell on the first two of them as the motivations are self-evident. Opportunist acquisitions often involve an attractive price whether through forced sale or distress. Expansionist acquisitions provide access to new products, technology, management or markets and, in this context, form part of a long term autonomous strategy of growth, quality of earnings and/or balancing business risk.

What I mean by shareholder value enhancing strategy is one that is formed and implemented with a particular future shareholder event or “exit strategy” in mind. This goal might include a trade sale, management buy-out or IPO. Consequently, there are some additional considerations and risks involved when making an acquisition.

A starting point is an understanding of the value of both the acquirer’s business and its shares today, together with positives and negatives from buyers’ and funders’ perspectives. This is the reference point to consider what the commercial and financial attributes of acquisition targets should be if shareholder value, and the deliverability of the preferred exit route, are to be enhanced.

The key considerations are, firstly, saleability. An exit strategy including trade sale should have at its heart the identities of the key strategic buyers and some perspective on their preferences. The acquisition strategy must therefore align with those preferences and make the business more attractive – both commercially and strategically. An example would be diversification: a business with very long term horizons might choose to diversify to create more risk balance, perhaps acquiring safe, cash generative activities. For a business contemplating a sale or private equity deal, these could be lower value add activities not attractive to buyers or funders looking for clearly defined business models. An IPO strategy might suit wider diversification.

Secondly, arbitrage. Debt finance is relatively cheap which on paper can justify some fairly high valuations before the profits acquired exceed the funding costs. What really creates and supercharges shareholder value is the ability to acquire businesses on lower valuation multiples than that attaching to the acquirer. As there is a correlation in practice between business size and valuation multiple, this is a common “buy and build” tactic to enhance shareholder value. It is also a strategy attractive to many private equity investors.

Thirdly, timing and integration strategy. The two are interlinked as an exit event will be greatly helped if there is a reasonable and appropriate period of ownership of the acquisition target. This might be a year, but could be longer if the integration strategy is more complex, perhaps involving rationalisation, cost cutting or extraction of other synergies. A related point is the deal structure as an acquisition with a lengthy earn-out period presents some complexity when the acquirer itself comes to sell.

Underpinning all these factors is of course doing the acquisition properly. Having paid a demonstrably good or at worst, fair price is of course key economically. But it also speaks for management’s ability, as does the implementation of the integration plan. Under the bonnet will be the due diligence materials and share purchase agreement. A poor due diligence exercise on an acquisition target and/or weak contractual terms such as warranty protections can undermine value in the acquirer’s group when going through its own exit event.

There are some fundamentals to get right when doing an acquisition. But before that it is worth considering the wider shareholder strategy, timeframes and risk appetite. If there is an exit strategy in the medium to long term, that goal needs thought about first and a much more rational and shareholder value enhancing acquisition strategy should follow.

  • 14/09/2017 Generation X - who are they and how can they help your business?
Much of the recent employer focused advice has been based around Generation Y, typically known as ‘Millennials’, and how employers can recruit, retain, and get the best out of their millennial workforce. Putting too much emphasis on the younger generation, however, could be short-changing your business.

Members of Generation X, known as Gen Xers, are defined as those born between 1965 and 1979, and are currently in the prime of their work lives and incredibly invested in their jobs. While baby boomers don’t understand the internet and millennials were raised on it, Gen Xers created it.

    Who?

Gen Xers were shaped by the economic and social changes that marked their transformative years including political upheaval, the dotcom bust, and the rise of divorce. Against this backdrop was created a generation of workers that are both innovative and highly resilient, independent thinkers who have learned how to adapt no matter what is thrown at them.

    What motivates Gen Xers?

To create an environment to foster successful Gen X talent, it is important to create a workplace where workers are appreciated and rewarded for their hard work. Gen Xers are less enchanted by office culture programs and participation awards. Rather, they prefer to be given the independence to manage their work within flexible hours and to simply be recognised when they have done a job well.

This dedication to hard work is currently being rewarded with executive roles. As of 2015, over 68% of CEOs were members of Generation X and that number is quickly growing. Crucially, their co-workers are happy to see them taking on these responsibilities; when asked which generation is best equipped to lead, 70% of people responded Gen Xers.

So how can you keep your Gen X employees happy and loyal? Here are some takeaways:

    ·         Provide competitive pay. Although money isn’t the biggest motivator for these workers, it’s definitely a factor, especially considering their stage in life, with responsibilities such as homeownership, parenthood and even children entering college. In addition to wages, bonuses can be a great way to inspire Gen X workers without committing to a permanent salary increase. Tie pay to the results they get for your business, and Gen X will be highly motivated.

    ·         Be a leader. Your business needs a strong vision and a good reputation to attract Gen X workers and keep them on board. Promote your business’s mission and vision as part of your marketing. Since Gen X workers want to make a difference, a company that makes a difference in its industry, community or the world at large will have an edge in appealing to them.

    ·         Don’t micromanage. Gen X workers want to make an impact on your business, and they can’t do that if you don’t trust them to take the lead. Continually challenge them with new opportunities. Set goals, but let them decide how exactly to reach those goals. Put them in charge of new projects and allow their key talents to be harnessed for the benefit and future success of your company.
  • 06/09/2017 Top growing industries for executive job seekers
Executive job seekers possess a breadth of operational and leadership skills that can be applied to a diversity of industries. But competition for jobs at the top of the ladder, which inevitably command the largest paycheques, is understandably fierce.

When it comes to certain industries, however, there are sectors that can put you on the fast track. Perhaps you are interested in enhancing your skill set or maybe your current industry is one that is slowing, affected by the evolution of technology and the ever changing business landscape.

To maximize your chances of success, you will want to source job opportunities within high growth industries   that recognise and value your experience, even if it was obtained in a different arena, and in which you have the potential to advance your career to the next level.

As a guide, we have highlighted a number of industries that present a higher proportion of executive job opportunities in 2017 than ever before.

    Health care

Uncertainty regarding the future of the NHS aside, health care is the fastest growing industry in the nation. Advancements in health care technology alongside aging baby boomers are driving the increase in executive vacancies in this industry. According to NHS Confed, the number of executive senior managers has increased in the past three years, with further executive vacancies yet to be filled.

With further increases in technology, NHS Confed predicts health care will overtake government and professional and business services in terms of employment share and will add five million new jobs through to 2022.

    Technology

Naturally, technology is one of the hottest sectors thanks to continual evolution in the market.  A study by economists at  Deloitte of the census results in England and Wales since 1871 found that the rise of machines has, rather than making humans obsolete, actually been a job creator and the demand for forward-thinking executive talent with new ideas is therefore continual.

Leaders with both technical and business skills are needed to advance emerging fields such as cloud computing, Big Data, 3-D printing, cyber security, the Internet of Things and robotics, and mobile and social technology.

    Waste Management

Solid and hazardous waste collection is seeing explosive growth as both the government and organisations seek to improve recycling, waste disposal, water and air pollution. Waste management is a multi-billion-pound industry that needs executives to lead the charge. Executive opportunities within existing providers is enormous while new businesses tapping into the market continue to seek executive leaders to drive their business strategy.

    Finance

Hit hard by the 2008 recession, the financial industry has largely made a comeback. To manage growth and capitalise on advances in financial technology and automation, many companies will be looking to rebuild their stable of executives.

Aspiring financial executives should be able to use high-tech tools, such as business intelligence software and data modelling, to evaluate business operations and increase efficiencies, leveraging technology to increase profit.

    So what next?

As with all executive career opportunities, research each industry, determine which offers you the most opportunity and also whether this is also the one in which you will find the most career satisfaction. Next, study all aspects of the business, its challenges and opportunities so you will be well prepared to showcase your unique value in a job interview.

  • 29/08/2017 An economic overview of Yorkshire
With half of the year already behind us we thought this would be an ideal opportunity to take a look back 2017 to date – a year that has been, if the news reports are anything to go by, plagued by political uncertainty; the Prime minister’s Industrial Strategy, which provided a £556m boost for the Northern Powerhouse initiative, the release of the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s first Budget, the triggering of Article 50, and one of the most notorious General Elections in the history of Great Britain.

Furthermore, we’ve witnessed the resignation of Northern Powerhouse Minister Andrew Percy, and George Osborne’s career overhaul as he takes on the role of Editor of the London Evening Standard. Two not insignificant figures in the prioritisation of the Northern economic strategy which could have been disastrous.

And yet, despite this period of upheaval and high political drama, all signs point to continued success for Yorkshire; with many businesses already established in the region reporting that they are continuing to flourish, and no end of new businesses setting up shop in ‘God’s own Country’.

According to the Business in Britain report from Lloyds Bank, released in June, business confidence throughout Yorkshire has increased to 23%, from January’s score of 17%. In fact, the region’s business community is feeling more optimistic than London, the East Midlands and West Midlands.

Commenting on these results, Leigh Taylor, regional area director for SME businesses, Lloyds Banking Group, said that ‘the fact that confidence is rising in the current climate is a positive sign for the region’.

This increase in confidence is also backed up by the number of jobs being created in Yorkshire and the Humber – reflective of the fall in UK unemployment rate to 4.5% in June (Financial Times), from 4.8% in October 2016. An overall decrease that, according to the regional Lloyds Bank PMI report, released earlier this year covering both Yorkshire and the Humber, has been attributed to an increase in business activity.

And one doesn’t need to look far to see examples of such confidence in the region, with the arrival of two of the world’s leading manufacturers, McLaren and Boeing announced in February this year – with the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) expanding their research and development capacity. A move that certainly helps to put Yorkshire at the very epicentre of the 21st Century’s industrial revolution.

The planned Doncaster Airport Rail Station, set to connect Doncaster with London in just 80 minutes, is another success story for the region. The train line is to have an effect beyond the airport site as a catalyst for encouraging investment, providing new jobs and support the growing innovation district at the airport’s 1,600 acre site, known as Aero Centre Yorkshire.

Steve Gill, chief executive of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “Doncaster Sheffield Airport is one of few regional airport sites in the UK which offers unconstrained physical and airspace capacity with the existing runway able to accommodate a throughput of 25 million passengers per annum, providing an international gateway serving the east side of the country.”

And with so many success stories to tell, it is hardly surprising that the topic of ‘talent’ has also started to come to the fore. After all, attracting and maintaining top-talent is going to be key to the region’s ongoing economic capability moving forward.

This investment in both skills and businesses is indicative of the past success of the region, yet also the success that is yet to come. Through pulling together to achieve transformational change in the collaborations between universities, businesses and transport links it means we are building a thriving, super-connected and successful Yorkshire economy.
