Job Description

Parkinson Lee Executive Search are retained partners to a highly successful, global business within the Rail industry in the appointment of a Chief Commercial and Sales Officer.

Reporting into the CEO, you will be a key member of the Executive team and will be tasked with leading a global sales team towards maximising revenues, key account management and profit margins for the group whilst driving a continuous improvements using the CRM/ERP system and data analytics as part of a modernisation program.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Chief Commercial and Sales Officer to join an international business with a rich history at a time of investment and be an integral part of the leadership team responsible for their continued growth on a global scale.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

•Strong leadership of the commercial, sales and marketing function

•Transforming selling practices through sales excellence training, coaching and collaboration

•Ownership of developing and continually improving the commercial and sales maturity of the companies entities and Business Units, including strategy for selling value, margin growth, and managing pass-through during economic cycles

•Providing advice and support to business units and selling entities in the creation and review of commercial sales contracts, license, agency, rebate, joint venture, consortium, license technical, agreements etc.

•Drive excellence across the commercial and sales organisation to maximise sales and profit margins whilst managing risk through best practice in commercial and contracting

•Hands on Key Account Management of a selection of global customers

•Influencing alignment and collaboration between commercial and sales function together with operational business units and entities

•Active membership and contribution to decision making within global exec meetings on policy and strategic direction whilst providing support in potential M&A activities

•Represent the company in selective partnership activities

•Work closely with legal and finance departments on risk management (commercial and other)

•Responsible for commercial risk mitigation in commercial and sales

•Optimising CRM and ERP systems

Parkinson Lee Executive Search are keen to speak to individuals with impressive, demonstrable track record and skills / experience gained within the following:

•Clear evidence of success within a senior role in a Sales or Commercial business development capacity

•Previous experience gained within the Rail, Transport or Heavy Industrial sectors

•Committed, high energy and motivated individual with a solid educational background (degree level or equivalent)

•Strong knowledge of working with ERP, MRP or CRM systems for processing data outputs including management reporting, pipeline, sales and operational planning etc.

•Strong proven leadership skills, with excellent training, coaching and mentoring ability

•Commercially astute and customer focused with a good understanding of commercial contracts and other commercial agreements such as license, agency, joint venture, consortium, license technical agreements etc.

•Tenacious and results driven with sound business judgement and high-level negotiating and influencing skills

•Experience in analysing and managing risk and applying risk mitigation to commercial contracts

•Previous experience in international markets and an in-depth understanding of export procedures and financing

•Fluent in second European language would be advantageous (but is not essential)

This role will offer hybrid working with 50% of the time being allocated to the office based in the Midlands.
