Job Description

Parkinson Lee are the retained partner to an international, Market Leading Engineering / Manufacturing Group, in the appointment of a Business Unit Managing Director.

The group is privately owned, highly entrepreneurial & acquisitive organization, that have experienced exponential growth over the last 10 years.

One of their strategic acquisitions was a privately owned, traditional Engineering Company based in Lancashire. This business unit still operates autonomously, that said, the group is investing heavily into the business, as they seek to exploit a major new market and take further market share with existing products.

As a result, the Group is now looking to appoint a Managing Director to lead the company in the realisation and delivery of its objectives. They are looking for a strategic and passionate professional, who can support a progressive and driven company, in delivering world class solutions across an increasingly varied product landscape.

Reporting to the Divisional Managing Director, key responsibilities will include:

•Developing and executing the business strategy, planning cost-effective short-and-long-term business objectives and developing new ideas based on market and industry data

•Directing the activities of the business while ensuring bottom-line profitability

•Managing the day-to-day running of multiple businesses across a number of sites

•Updating the Divisional MD and wider Exec team on budget targets, business strategies and industry developments, and collaborate closely with the Executive team across the Division on future growth plans

•Developing reporting tools to monitor the ongoing performance of the company

•Acting as a role model, promoting core values, being a champion of people to ensure employees are valued and motivated at work

In appointing the new Managing Director, we are looking for individuals with:

•An operational background gained within the engineering sector (i.e., Automotive, Aerospace, Metals, White Goods etc), ideally with fabrication and raw materials experience, although not essential

•Visionary leadership & strategic planning expertise

•A continuous improvement mindset

•Experience operating in an autonomous position but with the willingness and gravitas to build relationships across the group to build and successfully deliver a joined-up strategy

•Strong commercial and financial acumen

•Extensive budgeting, planning and forecasting experience

•Advanced problem-solving ability
