Job Description

Parkinson Lee are the retained partners to an International, Market Leading, Manufacturing Business, based in Yorkshire, in the appointment of a UK Managing Director.

With a turnover of approximately £15million, the UK Business is the most profitable within the group and is poised significant future growth, both organically and via acquisition.

The purpose of this role will be to lead all activity in the UK, establishing strategic goals and driving plans to ensure goals are achieved.

Main duties will include:

•Communicating with the Board of Directors to plan business objectives, developing organisational policies, coordinating functions and operations between divisions, and establishing responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives

•Setting the overall strategic direction of the company alongside the board

•Planning and implementing long term business strategies to achieve the company’s objectives

•Reviewing activity reports and financial statements to determine and progress attaining objectives

•Directing and coordinating formulation of financial programs to provide funding for new or continuing operations to maximise returns on investments and to increase productivity

•Planning and developing industrial, labor, and public relations policies designed to improve company”s image and relations with customers, employees, suppliers, and the general public

•Directing and supervising the activities of staff including the delegation of tasks, providing guidance for workers as needed and approving training opportunities

•Creating initiatives to take advantage of market opportunities, reducing operational threats, forestall business risks, and maximizes core strengths

•Identifying core competencies and defining operational goals

•Formulating, directing, and coordinating new growth markets in accordance with companies growth plans and limitations

•Researching and analysing the industry, market, and competitors to make informed strategy decisions

•Analysing opportunities for growth in market segments to drive profitability

•Building the companies public profile through networking, conferences, and speaking engagements

We are inviting candidates from the following background to apply:

•A proven track record of operating at MD level within a manufacturing organisation, ideally with experience of reporting into a larger group

•Full P&L responsibility

•A strong commercial / sales or manufacturing background, prior to progression through to MD

•Experience of working within a business that designs & manufactures its own products

•Experience of supplying products into the NHS or wider public sector would be advantageous

•Strong customer focus with the ability to adapt style to the customer

•Gravitas to build rapport quickly through all levels of the business

•Flair for innovation and a strong problem solver

•Degree qualified OR MBA qualified

•Flexible with travel (approximately 35%)
